The Zany Brainy educational toy superstore that co-anchors the Howe 'Bout Arden shopping center in Sacramento will close by the end of the year, one of 15 in the chain to shut.
Owner The Right Start Inc. (Nasdaq: RTST), which acquired the assets of fellow national retailer Zany Brainy Inc. after Zany Brainy filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May, has begun liquidating 15 stores in the 187-store chain that didn't meet performance standards.
The new Zany Brainy store in Roseville's Creekside Town Center, the same size as the Sacramento store, will remain open. So will a Right Start store in Arden Fair mall. The Right Start owns 70 stores under its own brand …
