SAN DIEGO -- Recent Asian immigrants are at high risk for depression, according to a survey of 100 Korean immigrants who were randomly selected in a primary care clinic.

The survey showed that 30% of these immigrants reported significant depression symptoms, and that 17% fit criteria for having a major depression, Dr. Xinque Xu said at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

The depressed patients tended to be between 40 and 64 years old, said Dr. Xu of the New York Medical College, Valhalla. That would appear to make sense because ...
