As part of the Bucks' "Big Three," point guard Sam Cassell helped Milwaukee win the Central Division and advance to the Eastern Conference final last season. In his ninth year, Cassell, 32, is the oldest and most experienced of the Bucks' top trio and is the only Milwaukee starter to have been part of a championship team, with Houston in 1994 and 1995. This season, the Bucks are one of the favorites in the East and got off to a 9-1 start, with Cassell averaging 18.3 points and 7.0 assists. TSN's Sean Deveney talks with Cassell about his coach, his contract and his team.
TSN: You guys have gotten off to a good start. What has been the key to that?
SC: It's not one particular key. We are a tight team now. Our experience last year taught us a lot. Our biggest accomplishment so far this year is that we know what it takes to win. We don't have to play great to win. We can just do enough to win a game. That's the ultimate goal, right? To win games.
TSN: George (Karl, coach of the Bucks) was complaining a little bit during the preseason. Do you get used to that? How do the guys on the team react when he speaks out?
SC: George is George, man. He is going to speak his mind. As a team, we don't worry about it. The media tends to feed into it, but we don't. We understand what kind of coach we have. He is a paranoid coach. He can worry himself to death, though. We have so much talent on this ballclub, I ...
