BIG TEN CONFERENCE
PF Reggie Evans, Iowa
It's called the "Rodman drill," a simple exercise named after a not-so-simple player but one who defined rebounding excellence during his era.
"Basically, you just throw the ball up and see who comes down with it," says Iowa's Luke Recker, "and Reggie almost always comes down with it."
Recker and his teammates might lose out to Evans in practice, but they will win big when it counts with the nation's best rebounder on their side.
Evans, now a senior, was the nation's No. 1 JC transfer last season when he joined Iowa and averaged 11.9 rebounds and 15.1 points and led the nation with 22 double-doubles. His work on the offensive boards also helped him get to the free-throw line an NCAA-best 346 times.
Through five games this season, Evans was averaging 11.4 boards, including a 15-rebound effort against Memphis' solid frontcourt in a semifinal win last week in the Guardians Classic.
