It's early December, which means it's time for conference championship games in which teams from the SEC, Big 12 and MAC play for outright titles. It also is when a team's season can be ruined by playing a game that isn't necessary. And that's why these made-for-TV money grabs should be dumped.
The conference title game was a brain child of the SEC, which, considering the monetary implications of such games, isn't a surprise. If there was a way to get sponsors for each team, the SEC would do it. How about the Winn-Dixie Florida Gators? Or the Golden Flake Georgia Bulldogs? But I don't want to give the SEC any ideas.
