If you are planning a postseason run in your league, now is the time to prepare your roster, not when the playoffs begin in a couple of weeks. Here are a few tips to increase your chances of winning--assuming you make the playoffs, of course.

Learn your fantasy league's rules. That might sound trite, but many people get burned by a lack of knowledge. Figure out the transactions deadlines and restrictions that are in place. This will dictate whether you can pick up players in the postseason or when you have to make trades.

Use every spot on the roster. Injuries always are unpredictable and this year they have hit iron men Eddie George, Emmitt Smith and Edgerrin James. You can blunt some of the potential damage by pursuing key backups now and getting the next Dominic Rhodes before anybody knows who he is.

If you have Stephen Davis and Thomas Jones, there is no point in holding on to Jones with the hope he will do something. Cut him and pick up Davis' backup, ...
