KARACHI, Dec 3 Asia Pulse - Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Shell Pakistan Ltd. have drastically reduced the prices of furnace oil by Rs712 (US$11.71) and Rs707.25 per tonne respectively effective from December 1.
The country's largest oil marketing company, PSO, in a statement here on Friday announced huge reduction in the selling price of its products High Sulphur Furnace Oil (HSFO) and Low Sulphur Furnace Oil (LSFO) being supplied ex Zulfiqarabad Oil Terminal and Keamari Terminal Karachi, with effect from December 1, 2001.
The prices of high sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) and Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (LSFO) have been reduced by Rs712 and Rs666 per tonne respectively.
The selling price of HSFO will now be Rs9,057 per tonne, down Rs712 per tonne or 7.3 per cent as compared to its previous price of Rs9,769.
Similarly, selling price of LSFO has been reduced to Rs10,703 per tonne from Rs11,369 per tonne, which is lower by Rs666 per tonne or 5.9 per cent.
The reductions in prices were triggered by fall in fuel oil prices in the Arabian Gulf from where this product is being procured and due to downward revision in rupee/dollar parity.
