KMT SUFFERS GREAT SETBACK IN TAIWAN LEGISLATIVE ELECTION.
TAIPEI, Dec 3 Asia Pulse - The opposition Kuomintang (KMT) lost its position as the largest party in the Legislative Yuan Saturday, winning only 68 seats as compared with the 87 seats won by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
KMT Chairman Lien Chan said that the party will make a "thorough review" of the unsatisfactory results and that as the biggest opposition party in the legislature, will try to achieve consensus among all political parties through negotiation.
Saturday's election saw the DPP attain the legislative majority with 87 seats, followed by the KMT with 68 seats. The People First Party (PFP) won 46 seats and the Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU) got 13 seats. The New Party (NP) had the biggest setback of all, winning ...
