ISLAMABAD, Dec 3 Asia Pulse - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) have supported the government's approved strategy to bring sweeping reforms in the Central Board of Revenue (CBR), sources said.
The two agencies have also communicated to the government that they would closely monitor and evaluate the progress in the implementation of the reforms in the CBR, the sources told newsmen.
The reforms, costing about Rs30 billion (US$493.42 million), would require international funding.
The IMF was linking the reforms to other conditions, including poverty reduction growth facility (PRGF) programme being negotiated with the government, the sources added.
The WB, on the other hand, had indicated that it would strongly support the funding needs for the implementation of the reforms, details of which are not known.
