NIKKEI COMMODITY INDEX HITS RECORD LOW.
TOKYO, Dec 3 Asia Pulse - The Nikkei Commodity Price Index for 42 basic materials fell to 99.203 (1970_100) on Friday, its lowest level since monitoring began in 1973.
The plunge reflects falling prices of petroleum products, steel materials and other industrial materials due to the recession.
The index has declined for seven straight months since May. It is down by 0.976 point from the previous month, falling substantially below the previous low mark of 99.415 recorded in March 1999.
