NEW DELHI, Dec 3 Asia Pulse - Indian Government has said there is a need to evolve a body to judge the performance of regulators to make them accountable.
"There is a need to have a body (which could be within the system) to judge the performance of regulators. The issue is how to make them accountable for the cause," Minister for Power Suresh P Prabhu said here Thursday.
Speaking at the concluding session of two-day worshop on 'Reforms in Infrastructure Sector', he said the need for regulators had got even more importance with the opening of the sectors.
"It has been the reason why the Government had made it mandatory for the states to have regulatory commissions in the new Electricity Bill, 2001," Prabhu said.
