ISLAMABAD, Dec 3 Asia Pulse - In a significant step forward on the Indo-Iran gas pipeline project, Tehran and Islamabad have agreed to set up a joint technical committee to conduct a feasibility study on the proposal.
The tri-nation project is expected to deliver enormous economic benefits.
A joint technical committee had been appointed to conduct a feasibility study on the gas pipeline project, which was estimated to cost around $US4.8 billion, visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi told a joint press conference with his Pakistani counterpart Abdul Sattar.
The project envisages pipe-laying from Iran through Pakistan to Gujarat. India and Iran have already commissioned similar feasibility studies on the project.
