OVERVIEW:
Housing finance fell for the second successive month in September, but analysts expect Australia's housing sector to continue its upward growth in the New Year.
Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data showed that housing finance by volume fell 1.0 per cent, in seasonally adjusted terms, to 52,903 units in September.
Allowing for seasonal factors, housing finance rose 3.7 per cent to $7.996 billion in September, reversing the previous month's 3.8 per cent fall.
OUTLOOK:
Analysts expect the housing sector to continue providing a good deal of support for growth into 2002, noting that the fall in housing finance in September...
