SYDNEY, Sept 2 Asia Pulse - A sruvey has found a 25 per cent drop in demand for executives in the past six months as Australian firms have become nervous about a US recession and a looming federal election.
Executive search firm EL Consult's August survey of executive employment recorded a two per cent fall in August, negating the gains in the two months prior and with a pickup not expected until late in the year.
"We are starting to see an improvement in the state of the economy but senior managers are quite jittery at the moment," EL Consult managing director Grant Montgomery said.
"Top of the list for every decision maker is just how deep will the US downturn be," he said.
Adding to this concern was the issue of a looming federal election, with business traditionally reluctant to make investment decisions in a volatile political landscape, he said. ...
