PESHAWAR, Sept 3 Asia Pulse - The NWFP government has finalized its own hydel power policy, inviting private sector to establish hydro-electric power stations to operate their own energy intensive industries to offset its inherent location advantage.
"The policy has been finalized and may be announced in next few days", a senior official in Sarhad Hydel Development Organization (SHYDO) told newsman.
The official said that twenty-eight sights had been identified for the purpose with a total power generation capacity of 32 mega watts on the upper Swat canal including Bazai and Machai but for now the NWFP government would offer 16 sites for the development of hydel power stations. The sites, he said, would be advertised some times next week.
