TAIPEI, Sept 3 Asia Pulse - The production utility rate of Taiwan's semiconductor foundries this year is estimated at only 54 per cent of their manufacturing capability, as compared with 97 per cent last year, according to a report by the Council for Economic Planning and Development.
The report, released Friday, says that production value of Taiwan's electronic industry as a whole is expected to drop considerably this year.
The DRAM (dynamic random-access memory) sector will suffer the most, with the yearly loss amounting to NT$30 billion (US$867 million), while the TFT-LCD sector is estimated to lose NT$16 billion.
