SEOUL, Sept 3 Asia Pulse - The ruling and opposition camps on Sunday revealed different attitudes toward North Korea's proposal of an early resumption of the stalled inter-Korean talks made in the afternoon.
Chong Wa Dae first welcomed the North Korea's proposal made to Unification Minister Lim Dong-won. "We hope the proposal to serve as a momentum for the deadlocked inter-Korean relations to develop," a senior official at the presidential office said.
The official added the government predicted that the North could make such a proposal around the time when Chinese President Jiang Zemin goes to Pyongyang. Jiang will visit the North's capital Monday for a three-day schedule.
However, some officials said the proposal meant the North does not want Lim to be dismissed, pointing out that the North made the proposal just a day before the non-confidence vote against Lim.
