PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ --
The Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) is inviting everyone for a free taste of summertime fun and family entertainment this Friday, August 31 at PHA's Community Day celebration and community cleanup. The event is scheduled to take place at the Germantown CBMO (Community-Based Management Office) located at 1917 Dennie Street (between 4300 Germantown Avenue and Wayne Avenue). The announcement was made today by PHA Executive Director Carl R. Greene.
The community cleanup will take place from 11 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., followed by a community celebration until 7:00 p.m. The Germantown CBMO covers the Germantown region of PHA scattered site and conventional housing facilities including Abbottsford Homes and Champlost Homes, Germantown House, Katie B. Jackson Plaza, Queen Lane Apartments and Morton Homes.
"We are continuing the great success of getting the community involved in cleaning up and improving our neighborhoods as evidenced in the massive outpouring of support generated in the Sparkle Plus effort over the summer," said Greene. "PHA's Community Days are a good way to show the community that our commitment to improving Philadelphia's neighborhoods is a year-round effort."
The celebration will include family entertainment and fun festivities including face painting, costumed characters, a magic show, clowns, games, a dance contest and music performances. There will be refreshments, food and giveaways thanks to PHA's community partners. WDAS-FM 105.3 will once again provide music and giveaways.
