18th Annual Buckeye Tree Festival Offers Unique Historical Perspective
UTICA, Ohio, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ --
Kids may read about Ohio's history in their textbooks, but on Sunday, September 9, from Noon to 6 P.M., kids and parents alike will get a chance to celebrate their state's heritage in a way that will bring that history alive for them. Velvet Ice Cream will host the 18th Annual Buckeye Tree Festival at its historic home, Ye Olde Mill, with a special bonus this year: the premiere of a new film, The Ohio Buckeye, which details the history of the Buckeye tree.
Two years in the making, the 20-minute educational film will be shown to Ohio's schoolchildren starting this fall. Festival-goers can get a jump on the school year, though, by taking in one of the continuous showings at the visitors center at Ye Olde Mill. Best of all, audience members will get a chance to meet filmmaker Kent Hoiles and ask questions about Buckeye tree history.
In addition to this unique opportunity, visitors can immerse themselves in an Ohio frontier experience. They can view the Buckeye exhibits and historical displays, then watch Ohio artisans and craftsmen, dressed in William Henry Harrison-era garb, demonstrate their traditional ...
