18th Annual Buckeye Tree Festival Offers Unique Historical Perspective

Kids may read about Ohio's history in their textbooks, but on Sunday, September 9, from Noon to 6 P.M., kids and parents alike will get a chance to celebrate their state's heritage in a way that will bring that history alive for them. Velvet Ice Cream will host the 18th Annual Buckeye Tree Festival at its historic home, Ye Olde Mill, with a special bonus this year: the premiere of a new film, The Ohio Buckeye, which details the history of the Buckeye tree.
Two years in the making, the 20-minute educational film will be shown to Ohio's schoolchildren starting this fall. Festival-goers can get a jump on the school year, though, by taking in one of the continuous showings at the visitors center at Ye Olde Mill. Best of all, audience members will get a chance to meet filmmaker Kent Hoiles and ask questions about Buckeye tree history.
