Many creditors are familiar with the protections available to them under Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code ("UCC"), adopted in every state as the law governing transactions that create consensual security interests in personal property and fixtures. Following more than ten years of study and review, the co-sponsors of the UCC--the American Law Institute and the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws--approved revisions to Article 9 ("Revised Article 9") in 1998.
