Ah, politics. Even before President Bush unveiled his energy initiative earlier this summer, his opposition went into attack mode. House minority leader Richard Gephardt and Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe thundered into cameras about how scandalously little George Bush cares about conserving resources. They all but demanded the White House cooks wash and reuse the Saran wrap they peel off casseroles at state dinners.
