When the 49ers cut Jerry Rice, they unloaded an overpaid player past his prime who no longer runs like he once did.

When the Raiders signed Jerry Rice, they acquired one of the best No. 2 receivers in the NFL and a player who should improve their passing game immediately.

Looking at Rice is like looking at one of those holograms with two images--what you see depends on your perspective.

The Raiders are thrilled to have him, as well they should. The only teams that clearly have better second receivers are the Vikings with Cris Carter, the Rams with Torry Holt, the Broncos with Ed McCaffrey and the Jaguars with Keenan McCardell.
