[Announcer] ... Agriculture ministers of the EU accessing countries met in Prague EU Commissioner Franz Fischler. Sona Ludvigova reports:

[Reporter] The candidate countries presented their known demands - direct payments higher than those proposed by the European Commission.

As the talks with Franz Fischler, commissioner for agriculture, fisheries and rural development, were beginning, hundreds of farmers from some of the candidate countries gathered at a protest rally in front of the building. The deputy chairman of the Slovak Agriculture and Food Chamber, Jozef Kondela, was among them.
