Backed by partners Hewlett-Packard and SAP, and last-minute backers Siebel Systems, Panasonic and Samsung, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates formally rolled out the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition on Thursday as the biggest evolution in personal computing to date.

Gates' latest baby was rolled out in over 19 countries yesterday (Thursday), from US to UK, Germany and France to Japan, China, South Korea and Singapore.
