I am standing in Loyola's Alumni Gym in north Chicago, surrounded by an odd mix of NBA personnel evaluators, writers and broadcast types, all here for one reason: To justify our cushy jobs.

Oh, and to watch an NBA-produced workout for Yao Ming, the 7-5 Chinese center who could be the draft's top pick.

I am not an NBA scout, though I occasionally play one in this space. I confess, I am woefully inexperienced at evaluating workouts. Thus, I spent the entire Yao session taking detailed notes on what happened in the gym and now will leave it to you, the reader, to draw conclusions.
