A large number of students wanting to join special education classes are on the waiting list because of a shortage of facilities and staff at the Ministry of Education and Youth, said a senior official.

Aisha Abdullah, Deputy Director of the ministry's Special Education Programmes Depart-tment, was speaking after a meeting with the Sharjah Educational Zone. It discussed draft regulations of the special education programme with directors of preparatory schools in Sharjah where these classes are available.
