The management of the Cuciurgan power plant, which is controlled by the authorities of Moldova's breakaway Dniester region, is casting doubts on the recently announced agreement between the Moldovan Energoexport company and Romanian company Electrica on exporting Moldovan electricity to Romania.

According to recent data from the Moldovan Energy Ministry, the CET-1 thermal power plant in Chisinau will produce 50 per cent of the electricity to be exported and the other 50 per cent will be produced by the Cuciurgan power plant.

"The Moldovan side hasn't presented any proposals to produce and export electricity to Romania," Dniester deputy industry minister Ivan Maksimenko said in an interview to the Olvia-Press news agency.

"It is impossible to export electricity without engaging Dniester energy-producing companies, as Moldova does not have a stable power-generating station which can produce electricity for export," Maksimenko added.
