KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- The Peninsular Malaysia Forestry Department is in the process of classifying waterfalls in the peninsula according to the level of danger they pose to the public.
Its Deputy Director-General (Forest Operations) Shaharudin Mohamad Ismail said based on the department's findings, information would be made available on the level of safety at these recreational spots.
"By using the classification, visitors will be able to evaluate for themselves the risks before entering the waterfall area," he said when contacted here recently.
Shaharudin said 80 per cent of the 126 recreational forests under the supervision of the department were in areas with rivers, rapids and waterfalls.
