Take two job candidates. On paper their qualifications are similar, but during the interview one stands head and shoulders above the other. The reason? Her attitude.
Michele Hoskins, director of student development at Chandler-Gilbert Community College AZ, highlighted the power of attitude at a conference sponsored by the National Institute for Leadership Development (NILD) and the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) in Phoenix in June.
Attitude, she said, is the reflection of the true self, an outlook based on past experiences, more honest and consistent than our words. Attitude can be our best friend or our worst enemy. It can draw people in or repel them. "How many people have the wrong perspective of you, and you of them?" Hoskins asked, calling attitude "the librarian of our past, the speaker of our present and the prophet of our future."

Still wondering about the impact of attitude?
