Of course we need women as role models, coaches and concerned advisors in campus athletics, but like women in academics, for many it's a revolving door. Women list three primary reasons for choosing careers other than intercollegiate athletics or for leaving the profession:
1. The jobs women get do not pay as much as those in other professions, considering the number of hours required and many years of apprenticeship.
2. Women get tracked into certain areas, like compliance or women's sports administration, which will never let them compete for a job as athletics director.
