Single moms, older women with families and students with jobs are especially likely to choose to further their education via distance education, a new study confirms.
The U.S. Department of Education study showed that 7.6% of students took distance ed courses in the 1999-2000 academic year, especially working adults who like the flexibility they offer, and their popularity has increased since the study. Of those taking distance ed courses, 29% completed an entire program, while the rest took some traditional courses.
