When the University of Michigan's new president Mary Sue Coleman responded to reports of a booster "loaning" more than $600,000 to four star basketball players of the 1990s who are now playing in the pros, she said, "This is a day of great shame."

She announced the school would forfeit every game the four played in over five years including tournaments, remove championship banners from the school arena, wipe their names from the media guide, put the team on probation for two years, and return $450,000 awarded by the NCAA earned for post-season play.
