John Harbison. The Rewaking. Lydian String Quartet; Dominique Labelle. Musica Omnia MO0110, 2001.
This disc takes its title from a four-part cycle of poem settings arranged for soprano and string quartet. The poems are all by William Carlos Williams (a perennial favorite of American composers), and the piece as a whole is, according to Harbison, to be thought of as "a quintet in which the theme of 'rewaking' from a winter of the spirit is carried forward equally by all five performers" (brochure notes).
