This disc continues New World Records' fascinating series of music originating from or associated with North Carolina's Moravian communities. Previous volumes have focused on chamber music written in the classical style by such composers as John Antes and David Moritz Michael, but this one marks a definite departure from that pattern. The music itself is not primarily by Moravian composers, but comes from a set of band books currently held by the Moravian Music Foundation; the books were owned by the 26th North Carolina Regimental Band of the Confederate Army, which was composed entirely of Moravian musicians from the town of Salem.
