The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has finalized its rate unbundling decisions on four electric cooperatives, setting the tone for future decisions involving similarly situated electric cooperatives.
In separate decisions all dated Nov. 15, the ERC prescribed new rates for the Pampanga I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Pelco I), Sorsogon I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Sorelco I), Pangasinan I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Panelco I), Zamboanga del Sur II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Zamsureco II).
This is the first batch of electric cooperatives issued new and unbundled rates by the ERC.
The ERC did not grant the full rate increase being sought by the electric cooperatives even as it directed them to stop charging the purchased power adjustment (PPA) and discontinue the application of the Wage Adjustment Clause (WAC) for those using the clause in their payroll computation.
The ERC said the new and unbundled rates for all four will take effect immediately following the National Power Corp. (Napocor) bill for the month of December this year.
