Imagine being able to check e-mail while hanging out at your favorite bar at Rockwell. Being able to be connected to the Internet on your notebook PC is no longer a far off notion but is, right here and now, a reality! Picture this: a businessman man sits at Che as he unwinds on a Friday night, quietly enjoying his tapas when he decides to buy golf clubs at his favorite online shopping catalog. A stylishly dressed woman is ordering her favorite shiraz in Cork after a day of shopping, then bids for a hard-to-find DVD at a popular online auction site. Meanwhile, in Mati, a college student is meeting some friends for a night of partying and downloads a new ring tone on the spot!
This was the scene at Rockwell's Lopez Drive when Intel recently brought mobility to Rockwell Power Plant Mall through a weekend celebration filled with technologies that keep people on the go and online. Dubbed Intel Celebrates Independence, the three-day activity brought together IT powerhouses Intel, Asus, Dell, Canon, ePLDT, Hewlett-Packard and IBM in demonstrating how Filipinos can do more yet carry less.

Che, Cork and Mati patrons were treated to a specially concocted drink called the Intel Indie and the latest in mobile computing technology. The Intel Pentium 4 Mobile Team walked around Lopez Drive and offered the free use of Intel@ Pentium@ 4-M powered laptops from leading PC makers Asus, Dell, HP and IBM. Surprisingly, people were enthused to check their e-mail, surf the web, and download ringtones and logos even on a Friday night out!

Banaag adds, "A wireless Mobile Intel@ Pentium@ 4 processor-based notebook gives you the freedom to work or play without being limited by location so you can lead the lifestyle you want."
The laptops were also featured in the Intel P4P-Mobile Gallery located at the South Court of the Rockwell Powerplant Mall, which were fully equipped with wireless communication capabilities. The Mall was turned into a wireless hotspot during the three-day event through the participation of ePLDT BLiNKTM, the first publicly deployed wireless high- speed Internet ...
