Activists launch cyber attack on White House, break into US base.

South Korean activists attacked the White House computer server with electronic mail bombs to protest the aquittal of two US soldiers accused of killing two schoolgirls in a road accident.

The attack coincided with anti-US demonstrations in which four students broke into a US army base and 300 others marched with candles near the US embassy in Seoul.

South Korean hackers and Internet users attacked the White House server at 0300 GMT on Sunday.

But the first cyber attack was "largely ineffective due to an advanced filtering system at the White House," an activist told AFP.
