PLZEN, West Bohemia, Dec 1 (CTK) - Defence Minister Jaroslav Tvrdik thanked the soldiers serving in foreign missions at the Plzen square today when 130 members of the 6th field hospital, who served for six months in Afghanistan, and another 20 members of the SFOR mission in the Balkans came to the ceremony.
Tvrdik gave 13 of them a cross for merit.
Tvrdik said that the Czech health mission for the support of ISAF security would end its operation in Kabul in late January of 2003. After that time only 20 Czech health care employees would be serving within a German unit. This was caused by the limited financial, material and personnel resources, Tvrdik said.
The 6th field hospital operated near the international airport in Kabul till mid-November when it was replaced by the 11th field hospital from Hradec Kralove.
