Paul Hitchcock was so excited last Saturday when he learned he was one of New Zealand Cricket's (NZC) 20 contracted international players, that he wanted to tell everyone.

It was a struggle to limit who the one-day specialist told, and there was huge relief when NZC on Tuesday finally released the list, to apply until June next year.

By the time it was released, the Wellington bowler had plenty more to tell his friends.

He also had been included in the Wellington State Championship four-day side, for the first time since 2000.
