Marianne Stanley, the high-profile women's basketball coach whose demands for a salary equal to that of the male team's coach at the University of Southern California made headlines in 1993, is again in the spotlight.
Now the coach of the Washington Mystics in the WNBA, Stanley was head women's basketball coach at the University of California at Berkeley (Cal) from 1996 to 2000. As head coach, she reportedly demanded that a newly-hired pregnant assistant coach get an abortion if she wanted to keep the job.
