Reader seeks work facts
December 5: Sir, - I should be very grateful if you or some of your readers could give me any information regarding the labour market in New Zealand or for that matter tell me where I might expect to find a job in any of the Empire's numerous colonies.
I am an out of work Briton 41 years of age. My occupation is in the clerical line. I was recently axed from my local employment and as I have little prospect of landing a job locally I have decided to go elsewhere and try my luck.
I am told that work in Canada is seasonal, unemployment in Aussie is on the increase - indeed migrants there have been rioting for want of it - South Africa would appear to be in turmoil - so I have decided to try New Zealand. There is however no office in Hongkong representing New Zealand.
I think that I am writing not for myself alone when I say that there are a very large number of unemployed Britons in Hongkong and they - unhappy souls - do not know where to turn for work and/or help in getting work.
