Jakarta, Dec 1 (ANTARA) - Indonesia in 2002 received HIV/AIDS drugs at low prices from an international donor foundation for 200 people infected with the deadly disease, Director General of Communicable Diseases and Environmental Health at the Health Ministry Umar Fahmi Achmadi said.
"The assistance came from a global foundation institute which directly supplied the drugs through the relevant NGOs in Indonesia," he said here Sunday afternoon.
He added that the HIV/AIDS drugs for a month-dosis cost Rp800,000, while their original price reaches Rp8 million, which means that each patient gets a 90 pct discount.
He also said that HIV/AIDS sufferers in Indonesia estimated at 3,000, have no reason to worry because a cure for the deadly disease has already been found.
