The second Central Election Commission-sponsored political debate between the two candidates for mayor of Taipei City was broadcast Sunday on Taiwan Television Enterprise Ltd.
Incumbent Mayor Ma Ying-jeou of the opposition Kuomintang vowed to provide Taipei citizens with a more comfortable living environment and develop the city into a cosmopolitan metropolis in the next four years if he is re-elected.
Ma cited the creation of a safe living climate as his top priority.
