Kaohsiung, Dec. 1 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian said in Kaohsiung Sunday that credit unions of the farmers' and fishermen's associations are different from ordinary financial institutions.

Therefore, he noted, the government should use a different way to deal with them.

Chen made the remarks while visiting the Farmers' Association of Kaohsiung City, which did not send representatives to take part in the Nov. 23 demonstration in Taipei by farmers and fishermen from all over the island at the request of Kaohsiung Mayor Frank Hsieh.
