N'Djamena, Chad, Nov. 30 (CNA) It is possible that the president and vice president of the Republic of China will make state visits abroad to ROC's allied countries this year, said ROC Minister of Foreign Affairs Eugene Chien, who is currently on an official visit in Chad.
Chien said high-level visits abroad have been included in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' 2003 annual budget, although no concrete plans for any diplomatic tours by President Chen Shui-bian or Vice President Annette Lu have yet been finalized.
The ROC foreign minister met with Chad President Idriss Deby at the Chad Presidential Office Saturday. The two exchanged views on a wide range of topics.
President Deby told Chien that the north-central African country of Chad highly values its firm and solid relations with the ROC and acknowledges that various bilateral cooperation plans between the two countries have proceeded successfully.
This is the third time Deby has met the foreign minister.
President Deby invited Chien to dinner at his official residence Saturday evening, making Chien the first foreign minister from any country to dine at President Deby's home.
