TAIPEI, Dec 2 Asia Pulse - A ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the world's largest memory chip plant, a joint venture of Taiwan's Nanya Technology Co. and Germany's leading semiconductor maker Infineon, is scheduled to take place today, a Nanya executive said.
President Chen Shui-bian has been invited to deliver a speech at the ground-breaking ceremony for the joint venture to be presided over by Wang Yung-ching, chairman of the Formosa Plastics Group, the parent company of Nanya, while Infineon's Chairman and CEO Ulrich Schumacher and Deputy Chairman Harald Eggers have arrived in Taiwan to witness the event.
Nanya and Infineon will invest 550 million euros (US$550 million) each in the construction of the planned 12-inch chip plant to be located in Kueishan township of Taoyuan County, northern Taiwan, in the next three years, ...
