Lamont Cunningham (a.k.a. Jarrett McDougle), 43, is hardly an angel. He has served time in a Minnesota prison for aggravated robbery and second-degree assault, and is currently facing charges in Madison County, Illinois, for allegedly punching and choking a girlfriend earlier this year. As a convicted felon, he is also barred from possessing firearms. Yet on September 24th in Madison, while armed with a gun, he became guardian angel to a woman violently victimized by a miscreant bent on robbery (or worse).
On that day, a man dressed in a stolen postal worker uniform pretended to have a package for Madison resident Debra Economy, 43. After she opened the door in response to his knock, he pushed his way in and began jolting her repeatedly with a stun gun.
Cunningham heard her screams and ran to help. According to police, he picked up a 70-pound concrete flower pot and hit the assailant on the head. Though dazed and bleeding, the man chased Cunningham from the home. But when Cunningham drew a gun and fired a warning shot, William T. Ciccia, 51, stopped in his tracks. He was arrested by police ...
