RALEIGH, N.C. -- Surprise grant presentations to teachers and the appearance of the Touchstone Energy hot air balloon at North Carolina schools highlight Bright Ideas Week activities. This year, a record $528,561 of Bright Ideas grants will be awarded to North Carolina's teachers. Governor Mike Easley has proclaimed November 18-22 Bright Ideas Week. During Bright Ideas week, the program will surpass the $3 million mark in grants awarded since its inception in 1994. The Bright Ideas education grant program is sponsored and administered by North Carolina's 27 electric cooperatives.
