Hockey Insider Kara Yorio sat down with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and discussed, among other things, the success of the new hurry-up faceoffs, the labor situation and the possibility of the league's players participating in the 2006 Olympics.
TSN: Have you liked what you've seen with the hurry-up faceoffs?
GB: It's been terrific. It didn't just speed up the game. It's more than that. It keeps up the intensity of the game. The play that results from having the faster faceoff is even better than what we normally have, which is terrific.
TSN: Is one of the best parts of your job making a change that obviously makes the product better?
GB: It's one of the best parts of my job, but nothing is so obvious. There's never unanimity of view on anything. On this one, we've come pretty close.
TSN: Is it possible to be commissioner and be popular?
GB: No.
