Abstract

The concept of the scholarship of teaching has emerged and is gaining strength among teaching scholars. This approach offered the opportunity to base college-level courses in experiential education theory. In building a photojournalism course, seven elements of an effective learning environment were used. Learning environments should have a process to identify development needs and to encourage initiative, and should allow students to have input into the learning process.
